I am looking for a free laptop. We need it on our TV show "Time with God." All it will do is play a simple Powerpoint that counts down the seconds so the talent knows when to end the show. Mac or PC (I can put up with a PC). Oh, and because you will be donating it to a Non-Profit, you can receive a tax break for it.

Know of anyone with an old, outdated, cheap laptop that I can have?

a LOT of universities put all their old furniture on sale every once in a while. Check with UNT to see if they have those sales. Also go to the UNT computer dept. & ask if they have any old ones you could "check out" for the year. Cindy's hubby works at Dell and I'll talk to him - even tho you'd be going over to the dark side working with an inferior machine......

have you called & begged the Apple store up there?

ummmm, if all it will be doing is counting down the time, wouldn't a clock work just as well??

Sarah!!! A CLOCK?!?! How dare you?! And a web designer too!! My goodness gracious... If our own geeks don't have faith in our technology... Don't you know that Apple makes a "clock?" But it would be an insult to call it a "clock" because Apple didn't stop at telling time, no! It has a customizable alarm that you can set to any song you want, it can interface with most bluetooth devices, it has a 16 million color, 3.5", 160ppi, touch-screen display. Heck! It even has it's own OS! I think they call it an iPhone? ;-) Oh, and it makes phonecalls too.

Seriously though, if you MUST have a laptop, I have one that doesn't work very well that I'd be willing to give to you. It is running XP-Pro and has Open Office already on it, so it should do whatever you need it to, just not very quickly. It's in NC, though, so I wouldn't be able to get it to you until I get back in Feb next year.
