just me?

Am I the only one that that has noticed that there has been an influx of Christian music in secular media?
I heard Toby Mac's "Slam" twice, once in a commercial for Fox's "Prison Break," and another time in a commercial for the movie "Transporter 2."
And, tonight, "This is your life" by Switchfoot was on the season finale of a TV show called "The 4400."

Praise God!

A few months ago, I posted a link for testing your connection speed. Because I was at my father's house at the time, my speed was dismal:
Download Speed: 376 kbps (47 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 97 kbps (12.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Now that I am back in the dorm, I decided to try it again:
Download Speed: 5541 kbps (692.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 113 kbps (14.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Yea!

Well, as you can see, I am up and running. I got here last night and ended up hanging out with friends and family until the wee hours of the morning, so I didn't get anything unpacked... that is my job today!
My room is very nice (which is should be, I am paying extra for it), but it is smaller than my room last year. I don't know yet if I will stay with a roommate or try to move out. Once I meet him, I might know.
That is all.

ack!

Well, this is it. I am off to the dorms again. And if history repeats itself, I won't have internet for another few days (stupid lazy people!).
Oh, and I have a roommate... I wasn't supposed to, but I am sharing a suite with three freshmen... joy joy.
So, in two weeks, I may switch rooms... but I may not, who knows... we will see.
Any who, see you on the flip side... whenever that is!

Too cool!!!!

I was surfing Wikipedia, and thought it would be neat to look up my birthday, November 6th, 1984.
For those of you that don't know, that is the day that Reagan was elected. I knew that, but as I was scanning the list of events on that day, I noticed several other presidential elections were on that day, which is no surprise considering the time of year.

1860 - Abraham Lincoln
1888 - Benjamin Harrison
1900 - William McKinley
1928 - Herbert Hoover
1956 - Dwight D. Eisenhower
1984 - Ronald Reagan

Notice anything about the list? EVERY president that was elected on my birthday was REPUBLICAN!

I am starting to like my birthday even more!!!

More info:

1860 - U.S. presidential election, 1860: Abraham Lincoln is elected as the 16th President of the United States, the first Republican to hold that office.
1888 - U.S. presidential election, 1888: Democrat incumbent Grover Cleveland wins the overall popular vote, but is voted out of office because he loses in the Electoral College to Republican challenger Benjamin Harrison.
1900 - U.S. presidential election, 1900: Republican incumbent William McKinley is reelected by defeating Democrat challenger William Jennings Bryan.
1928 - U.S. presidential election, 1928: Republican Herbert Hoover wins by a wide margin over Democrat Alfred E. Smith.
1956 - U.S. presidential election, 1956: Republican incumbent Dwight D. Eisenhower is reelected by defeating Democrat challenger Adlai E. Stevenson in a rematch of their contest four years earlier.
1984 - Ronald Reagan defeats Walter Mondale to be re-elected in one of the largest electoral landslide in United States election history.

A Water Fireplace?

Friday, August 05, 2005
Don't install a gas fireplace... make it water!
(from Slashdot)
"Ordinary tap water (preferably distilled) is supplied to the fireplace through a pipe or tank, a 220 volt electrical service then separates the hydrogen and oxygen atoms through electrolysis, the Aqueon ignites the hydrogen, and ta-dah, fire! The oxygen is then added for color and brightness, while the rest is released into the room. It doesn't require venting because it doesn't produce any harmful emittents like carbon monoxide -- just water vapor.' The manufacturer's website has more information on the science behind this new product. While splitting water to get hydrogen and oxygen is not new, this product will likely make the technology more accessible to the masses and might hopefully show that hydrogen is a more attractive fuel than petroleum-based fuels."

Proud?

I don't know if I should be proud or not.
Tim Burton is coming out with his latest version of "Nightmare Before Christmas." This one is called "Corpse Bride."
Just like Nightmare, Corpse Bride is stop motion animation, meaning it was shot one frame at a time. However, Burton went with digital this time.
Using a Mac running Final Cut Pro, and a consumer level digital camera, he was able to create a trailer that most people think was computer generated.
Read more about it here. This is a wonderful read, even for you Mac haters out there (that would be you, Diz).
You can also watch the trailer.
