This one is for Matt...

A college professor, an avowed Atheist, was teaching his class. He shocked several of his students when he flatly stated that there is no God. The expression, "One Nation, Under God", was unconstitutional, and further, he was going to prove there is no God.

Addressing the ceiling he shouted: "God, if you are real, I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you 15 minutes!"

The lecture room fell silent. You could have heard a pin fall. Ten minutes went by. Again he taunted God, saying,
"Here I am, God. I'm still waiting."

His countdown got down to the last couple of minutes when a Marine, just released from active duty and newly registered in the class, walked up to the professor, hit him full force in the face, and sent him ass over teacups from his lofty platform. The professor was out cold.

At first the students were shocked and babbled in confusion.

The young Marine took a seat in the front row and sat silent. The class fell silent...waiting. Eventually, the professor came to.

Shaken, he looked at the young Marine in the front row. When he regained his senses and when he could speak he yelled, "What's the matter with you? Why did you do that?"

"God was busy. He sent the Marines."

"Katanna's Blog's viewings at an all time low!"

Monday, May 23, 2005
Well, I am saddened to say that in the last week, there have been only three page viewings of this blog. Three. Tres. Trente. OK, I made that last one up, but come on guys, we need more viewings!!!
Then again, I am preaching to the choir here...

Hey guys... I thought I would post for once.
See what time it is? Yup, it is almost nine in the morning. I woke up at 8 yesterday morning, and didn't sleep last night.
Lets see, in the last 24 hours, I have:
- driven over 200 miles, all without anyone else in the car.
- worked on two jobs, including taking over 500 pictures, and burning 800 CDs.
- helped someone move, in record high heat.
- driven a moving truck for the first time.
- not slept except for a 45 minute nap.

Well, guess what... I am off to bed! Hope I can make it to the bed...

Another Long One...

Hey guys, sorry I have been gone for a while, I was rather busy....
Early this week, I took my last finals! I am done with this semester! And I feel great about all of my classes, thank God! I have been thanking God for a lot recently, as I can really see Him performing miracles in my life.
One of those miracles is that he gave me great friends; ones that help you move. Jello, Cagle, and Spartacus (not their real names... kind of) moved all of my stuff from my dorm room into my truck during my last final. They did a great job of moving everything, even stuff I asked them not to. =: > But it turned out perfect, in that when my RA came to check me out, I was literally putting the finishing touches on my cleaning. Thank you so much guys for the work you did. I couldn't have done it with out you.
Now I am moved. Out of the dorm (yay!). And I have nothing to do all day, which is another great thing.
So, overall, thank God for all he has done for me this week!!

cool site of the nite...

Monday, May 09, 2005
This site is too cool, for two reasons...
The first it what it is for. This site hosts a program that turns your Windows XP machine into a visual OS X. So if you are running Windows, and you want it to look like OS X (with the bar on the top!!), use this program.
But that alone is not enough to make this the site of the nite.
The layout that it has is just phenomenal. Everything on the site is fully functional. "Aren't websites supposed to be fully functional" you might say. Well, just go there to see for yourself...

The longest one so far...

I am ecstatic!!! (that means very happy!)
First, a little background...
I am in an intro film final that I have to get a C or better so that I can go on with my college career. The grade is 30% midterm, 40% paper, 30% final. On the midterm, I got a C, and I didn't feel too good about the paper (I wouldn't know what I got until after the final).
So, needless to say, I was studying like crazy... which for me, was about 3 hours worth. I HAVE to get a C in the class, or I run into major problems. So, as I was studying like crazy, I was praying like crazy. I was praying that I would do my best studying and do my best on the final (I don't believe in praying for "supernatural knowledge," I think that is cheating... I only pray that I do my best). And on my way to the final this morning, I was feeling great! Even after minimal sleep for the past two nights (thanks to some party I went to), I was awake early and very jolly.
Then I saw the final... ouch! He covered some stuff that I didn't think he would, and asked some hard questions. But in the end, I thought I made about a D - C.
So, why am I so ecstatic (or happy, for those that have short term memory loss)? Because after I turned in the final, I got my paper back... and I got an A! And with that A being 40% of the grade, 30% being a C, it would have to be a pretty bad final to not get that C (according to my calculations, I would have to get below about 50% to not get a C in the class).
Yay!!

Also, I cleaned the bathroom today! See, I have to do it by Wednesday, and I thought that it would be a chore, but I was doing nothing today, so I did it, and it turned out to not be a chore! One less thing I have to worry about before I move on Wednesday.

So, I am doing great today!!

On a side note, I do need some prayer. I can't say what it is, but if you could pray for me and the decision I have to make, I would really appreciate it.I don't like keeping yall in the dark about this, and I will let you know once I know something, but right now, it is for the best if I don't say anything right now.

PS: that "some party" I went to was the best party I have been to... thanks for the great time, JEllo!!

Test your speed...

Sunday, May 08, 2005
This is a cool page that tests your connection speed, and graphs it compared to other standards.
Link
Try it a few times, the results can vary...
I got usually about 6Mbps download and 70Kbps upload.
Note that they use bits, not Bytes... if you want to convert the results to normal usage, divide by 8 (or 10).
So, for instance, I download at 6Mbps (bits). Most people use MB (Bytes). So I would download at about .6MBps.
(that just went WAY over mother's head!)

Is MeMedia really all about Me?

Thursday, May 05, 2005
So, I was thinking in the shower a few moments ago about how "MeMedia" describes me rather well. (for those that don't know, MeMedia is the name of my production company, find out more at www.MeMediaWeb.com)
First, the "Me." I try not to be egotistical, but for those that know me, you know that I am usually a leader, and unable to be a follower. I like to dominate over people, and I hate taking orders. So the Me really describes me well.
Next, the "Media." While I originally came up with Media because of movies, it really describes me better than just movies. It also describes web pages (which I do). It describes photography (which I do). It describes music (which I do). It describes art work (which I DON'T do!!). Media really describes me more than movies.
Any who, I thought that that was cool, so, there you go!

Gotta love iPods...

"Apple's iPod Shuffle took more than half of the US Flash-based music player market last month."
What this means is, 58% of ALL flash-based music players that are sold are iPod Shuffles!! Just a few other fun facts: the regular iPod controls over 90% of the hard-drive-based music players, and as for online music, 70% is sold via iTunes Music Store. (Link)
Not bad, Apple... now get your computers to these numbers, and I will be happy!

OK, I had this weird dream...

OK, so I had this dream...
I was driving, and made a right hand turn without stopping, so of course I see the flashing lights behind me. I park, and some guys get out (5 people total, one turns out to be "the commissioner," whatever that is). Any who, we are all talking, and asking me questions. I show them ID, etc. Then when they go, the commissioner doesn't give me a ticket, he hands me a $500 bill!! I was like, "that is soo cool, I want to remember this so I can go tell my blog."
So then I woke up at our old house (Woodland), and so I ran upstairs to write it in the blog. But before I can type it in, here comes the commissioner. He kind of smiles at me, and is talking to my cousins, and gives them all $100 bills. And he told my young cousins, "Remember to tell your parents that I am running for the board of education, so they should vote for me."
Then, when I was looking out my window, I noticed that you could see the creek from my window. They had cut down all of the trees over the creek, and hundreds of people with tubes were flowing down the creek....
Then I woke up, for real this time...
OK, so it was weird... I just had to share it!

Matthew

hhmmmmmm

If you consider that there have been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraqi theater during the last 22 months, that gives a firearm death ratio of 60 per 100,000.

The firearm death ratio in DC is 80.6 per 100,000. That means that you are more likely to be shot and killed in our Nation's Capitol, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, than you are in Iraq.

Conclusion: We should immediately pull out of Washington, DC!

Cows, Constitution and Ten Commandments

Sunday, May 01, 2005
COWS -- Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that our government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington. And they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give them all a cow.

CONSTITUTION -- They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it's worked for over 200 years and we're not using it anymore.

TEN COMMANDMENTS -- The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a Courthouse! You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery" and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians! It creates a hostile work environment!

My reviews for Nick of Time, Spy Game, and Open Water

Can you tell I was bored this weekend? I have watched 3 movies, and it is only Saturday...
Well, here goes:

Nick of Time:
This is a "real time" thriller with Johnny Depp. "Real time" refers to the fact that the movie is 1.5 hours long, and takes place in 1.5 hours, so every minute on screen is a minute of "movie time."
The movie was pretty good. I don't think Depp is good in this kind of format (in this movie, he is your Average Joe, Depp is better at playing Edward ScissorHands or Willy Wanka), but he wasn't too bad. The action was typical Hollywood, and actually had me on the edge of my seat. One problem was that the ending kind of just ended. There was no dénouement. While the ending was resolved, it did it quickly. Think Con Air. Over all, not a bad action flick when you are bored.

Spy Game:
With Robert Redford and Brad Pit, how can you go wrong? I mean, if you have Hollywood's two sexiest men in one movie, can it be bad?
Well, this movie was pretty good. It was a good thriller and had a nice pace. It was well shot, in many exotic locations, and well directed. The plot, though, was a bit much. It seamed like they wanted to cram a whole book into a 2 hour movie, and I felt like they were force feeding me information.
Overall, a great movie, one for the guys.

Open Water:
For a movie that was made on $130,000 (and later bought for $2.5 million, a 20 fold increase), it wasn't bad. (On a side note: The Blair Witch Project is "in the Guinness Book Of World Records for "Top Budget:Box Office Ratio" (for a mainstream feature film). The film cost $22,000 to make and made back $240.5 million, a ratio of $1 spent for every $10,931 made." -IMDB.com)
Any who, the movie was good. You could tell it was filmed using digital cameras, but that didn't take anything away from the movie. The entire movie has very little plot; it takes them 30 minutes to get in the water, and most of that time was dead time. But once they were in the water, the suspense was good (especially the night scene). The guy I was watching it with almost wet his pants...
Spoiler area: (select the text to read the spoilers)
I didn't like the ending. It was like Perfect Storm, where it ends in them all dead. I mean, how do they know about ANYTHING that went on?? It was based on a true story, but 50% of the movie was made up in the screen writer's mind!

Boobie Alert!! Yup, thats right, boobies. In the first 10 minutes, there is a very sudden shot of (almost) full frontal nudity. This scene was both unexpected, and unnecessary. If you ever watch it, it comes right after they are brushing their teeth.
Over all, not too bad... worth seeing once.

Well, I hope I enlightened you today. See you all tomorrow!
